Singer BlackfaceNaija says he is being sued for N50million by his former Plantashun Boiz bandmate, Innocent ‘2face’ Idibia.
BlackfaceNaija said 2baba was suing him over his age-long claim that he wrote ‘Let Somebody Love You’ and ‘African Queen’; the latter’s biggest songs to date.
In a letter sent through his lawyers, Seun Omotoba & Co, 2Baba demanded that BlackfaceNaija retract his comments.
BlackfaceNaija revealed this on Instagram saying, “2face Idibia and his manager Efe Omorogbe sued me for 50Million.They claiming I didn’t write Let Somebody Love You and African Queen and What Else.
“Just about time me and my legal team and I filed for my defense. I will release my album, Rising Sun (defendervol2).”
2Baba had in May 2017 asked his former collaborator to apologise for making “defamatory” statements or face legal action.
Blackface, real names Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo, has over the years levelled allegations of song theft against 2Baba.
The singer also claims that 2Baba sabotaged his career by plotting to deprive him of shows for several years.
After Plantashun Boiz split in 2004, BlackfaceNaija led a solo musical career. He released the hip-hop album Ghetto Child in 2004 collaborating with a number of artistes. He also recorded a full album for his crew, D Tribunal, called What We Are.
In 2013, he made a collaborative album 200 with Maine Eazz.
Sadly, there has been a longstanding beef between the dancehall veteran, and 2face.
In January 2016, BlackfaceNaija in a series of tweets lashed out at 2Bace and his manager, accusing them of stealing his intellectual property and even threatening to take them to court.
Ever since, BlackfaceNaija has refused to renege on his statements.
Blackface, 2Baba and Faze, members of Plantashun Boiz, reunited in 2007 for an album called ‘Plan B’.
When PREMIUM TIMES contacted both artistes, they declined comments.
