Thierry Henry ‘agrees to become new Aston Villa manager’

Steve Bruce currently remains in charge of the Championship outfit, but new majority shareholders Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens are understood to be considering a change following last week’s takeover of the financially-stricken club.
The new owners are unconvinced that Bruce is the right man to take them back to the Premier League, and Henry quickly emerged as their number-one choice to take over.
The Daily Star reports that Henry has now agreed to the role, providing he receives reassurances from Sawiris and Edens about their plans for the future of the club and how they hope to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
Henry has most recently been serving as Belgium‘s assistant manager and helped the Red Devils to their best-ever World Cup finish in Russia this summer.
However, the 40-year-old announced after the tournament that wanted to forge his own career as a manager.
