Long-serving Nigerian artiste, Dr Sid, in recent interview shed more light on the happenings around the time of the infamous break up by one of Nigeria’s all-time most popular music label, MoHits Records.
The label co-founded by Don Jazzy and D’Banj broke up in 2012 following irreconcilable differences after holding the African music industry down for over half a decade with numerous group and individual hit songs as well as commercial success.
Dr Sid said in the interview with Pulse said: “it was very difficult and it was very hurtful.” Sid who was the oldest among the crew was often accused by sections of fans and followers of being partly responsible for the group’s break up.
Dr Sid continued: “It was very painful because anybody that knows me knows that I am a team player. I will sacrifice my personal gain for the sake of the team.
“Next to D’banj in Mo Hits, there was nobody who could command a stage like Dr Sid, but I never was the guy who threw myself out there, I was all about how to make the team better.”
The trained Dentist during the MoHits Era dropped the evergreen classic song ‘Over The Moon’.
“When somebody names you as the reason why something like that happened, it hurts especially when you know the truth,” he further added.
“For me, I fought hard to keep it together. I guess it just wasn’t meant to be.
“So for that situation to go down like that and people turn on me like that, I spent a lot of night crying and it really affected me in a lot of ways, but I have moved on.”
The defunct music label is planning a reunion concert which has kept a lot of their fans expectant to see more of them after a teaser at the Davido‘s 30 Billion Concert in December 2017.
