Femi Adebayo, popularly known as a Yoruba actor, has proved himself in a new English movie, ‘The Island.’
In the movie, which was released to the cinema on Friday, August 10, Adebayo displays a good mastery of his role, a comic character.
Speaking with Punch at the première held at Genesis Deluxe Cinema, Victoria Island, Lagos, Adebayo said he had fun while shooting the movie.

He stated, “Being on set of the movie was an awesome experience and it was the first time I visited Kaduna. But this is not the first time I would feature in an English-speaking movie. My first experience on set of an English movie was in 2015 in Abuja. Since then, I have featured in ‘October 1’ and I have worked with the likes Uche Jombo, Mike Ezeronye and a host of others.”
According to him, when he read the script, he instantly became interested in the movie because it was about the nation’s security.
“In the movie, the country’s security was sold out. Also, playing a comic role is not new to me and it was one of the reasons my movie, ‘Jeli jeli,’ was a success. An actor should be able to play or interpret any character,” he added.
The movie also features Tokunko Idowu (TBoss), Segun Arinze and Sambasa Nzeribe.
Other entertainers who attended the première include Di’ja, Craze Clown, Yaw, MC Senator, Pencil, Hilda Dokubo, Bisola Aiyeola and Ushbebe.
Directed by Toka Mcbaror and co-produced by Daniel Cole and Freda Francis, ‘The Island’ is produced primarily to showcase the Nigerian culture and to give viewers an in-depth, enjoyable cultural experience while celebrating the effort of the Nigerian military force.
