‘I’m good where I am now’: Eden Hazard confirms he will stay at Chelsea this season but offers no guarantees over new contract

Eden Hazard has confirmed he will stay at Chelsea this season, but has offered no guarantees over his long-term future.
Belgium international Hazard was a target for Real Madrid and Barcelona over the summer after admitting “it might be time to try something different” following the World Cup.
But Chelsea refused to negotiate over Hazard and there is no chance of him going this year, despite the Spanish transfer window remaining open until the end of the month.
Hazard received a hero’s reception from the Stamford Bridge crowd, when he was introduced as a substitute against Arsenal and the forward set up Marcos Alonso’s late winner.
He still has two years remaining on his contract and Chelsea are prepared to pay him over £300,000-a-week to stay.
“Everybody knows what I have said after the World Cup,” said Hazard. “But I’m happy here. I don’t want to talk about it yet. A lot has been said, but at the moment I’m happy. I have two years left on my contract and we’ll see what happens. Leaving this year? I won’t go.”
“The transfer market in England is closed. Clubs can still sell players, but not sign new ones anymore. It would be a bit strange that they would sell me now while they can’t sign a replacement. Today we have seen that the fans quite like me. I’m good where I am now. Let’s see what happens in one or two years.”
