BARRING unforeseen circumstances and ahead of Monday’s former declaration of Lagos State chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Moshood Salvador, for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which event has been slated for Agege Stadium, PDP has appointed Dr Dominic Adegbola as his replacement, Tribune Online has learnt.

Adegbola, a medical practitioner, was a governorship aspirant of the party in the 2019 poll.

It would be recalled that Salvador on Monday announced his decision to dump to PDP for APC, saying that he took the decision because his efforts to grow the party was not being appreciated and could not continue to labour in vain.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the choice of Adegbola came, following a consensus of opinions among the party leaders in the state, based on the need to pick a replacement for Salvador from same Lagos West that he came from, among other criteria.
Already, it was gathered that the PDP National Headquarters in Abuja had been informed of the appointment through a letter, with the former deputy national chairman of the party, Chief Olabode George, said to have given his nod to Dominic’s new appointment.

Tribune Online further gathered that more seats needing to be filled in the party exco due to their holders’ political aspiration to contest for seats in the 2019 polls had also be filled by new appointees, also based on the consensus of opinions.
According to findings, the new state vice chairman (Central) for Lagos chapter is Barrister Kehinde Oshinowo, who will be taking over from Hon. Tajudeen Jaiyeola Agoro, a House of Representatives aspirant while the party has positioned Elder Babatunde Agbaje as its new organising secretary.
Barr. Adeniyi Pokanu is being positioned to take over as state legal officer, while Mr Ademola Badejo takes over as the state assistant secretary.

When contacted, Dr Dominic confirmed the new development in the party, saying leaders met to agree on his choice following the move by Salvador to leave the PDP for APC.

He also confirmed that he was in Abuja to deliver the letter containing the decision of the party leaders led by Chief George to appoint him as replacement of the former chairman, Hon. Salvador, saying informing the party national headquarters was in line with the laid down rules and regulations.
“I was in Abuja, I just came back last night. I took the letter there, to the PDP headquarters, we did that to follow the protocol in the party,” he said.
