20 Nigerians to be listed for this season’s Champions League and Europa League
Super Eagles stars Henry Onyekuru of Turkish champions Galatasaray,
Bryan Idowu from Lokomotiv Moscow and Chidozie Awaziem of FC Porto
have been listed on their respective clubs’ squads for the UEFA
Champions League.
However, injured defender Tyronne Ebuehi has been left out by
Portuguese giants Benfica.
Ebuehi suffered a long-term injury on arrival from Dutch club ADO Den
Haag this season.
Other Nigeria stars listed for the Champions League are Olanrewaju
Kayode (Shakhtar Donetsk), Ubong Ekpai (Viktoria Plzen) and Emmanuel
Bonaventure Dennis (Club Brugge).
The group stage of the Champions League will kick off on September 18.
Also, at least 14 Nigeria stars led by the likes of Victor Moses, Alex
Iwobi and Samuel Kalu will feature in the group stage of the UEFA
Europa League this season.
The likes of Ovie Ejaria, Adedapo Awokoya-Mebude (Rangers) and
Innocent Emeghara (Qarabag) have dual nationality.
