NEW MINIMUM WAGE: GOVT IS INSINCERE – SSANU
The Senior Staff Association Of Nigerian Universities, SSANU has said that negotiations on the new minimum wage is becoming unduly outstretched and this is due to the Federal Government’s insincerity.
In a Communique signed by its National President, Samson Ugwoke, and its Public Relations Officer, Abdoussobur Salaam, SSANU said the government’s lackadaisical attitude with the negotiation team may lead to a grievous consequence.
The Union said, “The negotiations on the new national minimum wage are becoming unnecessarily protracted. The Federal government appears to not to be sincere about the negotiations and the decision of the Federal Government side, to postpone the meeting of the committee sine die, on the grounds of further consultations, is flimsy.”
SSANU further reiterated its commitment to collaborate with the Nigeria Labour Congress in calling on the government to make the negotiations serious business. According to the union, government’s failure to reach expected ground on the negotiation may lead to unbearable hardship for Nigerians.
