RAYMOND DOKPESI, BALA MOHAMMED CHALLENGES BUHARI IN COURT OVER UNCONSTITUTIONAL EXERCISE OF POWER
-By Joseph Omoniyi
Chairman Daar Communication Plc., Raymond Dokpesi, Senator Bala Mohammed and Ambassador Bello Mohammed have charged President Mohammadu Buhari before the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos over what they called abuse of executive power.
The President had earlier on Thursday signed an executive order to improve his fight against corrupt practices. The Executive Order No 6, labeled the complainants as corrupt and their assets as proceeds of corruption liable for forfeiture.
The plaintiffs pray the court to declare this order unconstitutional, thereby, null and void. They pointed out that, this attempt by the President constitutes negation of the presumption of innocence of the accused until proven guilty by due process of law, as guaranteed by the constitution.
