Marouane Fellaini makes worrying admission after Manchester United fall flat against Wolves

Marouane Fellaini admits Manchester United are already in danger of falling out of the race for the Premier League title. Jose Mourinho’s side recovered from their humbling 3-0 defeat against Tottenham earlier this month to put together a run of three straight wins. But, after Wolves escaped from Old Trafford with a well earned point, United have fallen further behind pacesetters Liverpool and Manchester City, both of whom recorded convincing wins on Saturday. Chelsea, meanwhile, can extend their 100% start to the new season with a win at struggling West Ham tomorow and Fellaini admits the mood in the United dressing room is one of bitter disappointment.
‘Everyone is disappointed,’ he said. ‘We know we can do better. We have to win today because after that it will be difficult to close the gap. Everyone is disappointed but that is football. ‘We have to move the ball quicker, when we create the chances we have to score.’ United were in midweek action in the Champions League but Jose Mourinho refused to blame their exertions on a synthetic pitch for a subdued display. He said: ‘We won three matches away, come home with a good spirit, because we recover and then you start in a poor way and I could say tired, Champions League, awful pitch, the body suffer a difficult impact than a match in actual grass, not coming home after the match, I could go in this direction. ‘But we have Lingard and Alexis didn’t play, Fellaini played 25 minutes, Antonio Valencia didn’t play, so we didn’t have a team that was in big trouble with accumulation of matches ‘So I think is a mental situation and attitude, again one team was coming to play the game of their lives and another was to relax.
