MAN STABS HIS FATHER TO DEATH DURING AN ARGUMENT
The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 34-year-old man, Omorodion Sampson, for allegedly stabbing his younger brother to death in the Egba area of Benin, the state capital.
The suspect was alleged to have had an argument with the victim, who was identified as Imuetiyan Omorodion, before the incident occurred at Blessed Quarters, in the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the state.
He was, however, said to have been arrested on October 7.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Johnson Kokumo, who confirmed the arrest at a press briefing on Tuesday, said that Omorodion, aged 27, was stabbed twice in the neck with a knife.
Kokumo further disclosed that the command apprehended two persons, identified as Augustine Temile and Solomon Holly, for allegedly kidnapping one Ngozi Mba in the Ugbowo area of the Benin metropolis.
Also arrested was a 35-year-old man, Chizoba Okafor, for the alleged production and sale of fake drinks in the Upper Mission area of Benin.
The police commissioner, who also paraded some suspected cultists, urged residents of the state to remain vigilant and report any clandestine activity in the domain to the security agency.
Speaking with Southern City News, Okafor, who claimed to be a native of the Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State, said he had engaged in the “business” to cater for his wife and children.
According to him, the drinks were produced with his “formula”.
He explained, “It has not been long since I started the business because I have a bar where I sell pepper soup and palm wine with my wife and three children.
“Everything (ingredient) is written on the labels. I am not a graduate; I use my formula to do it.
“I do it to earn a living (because) I cannot rob with a gun. Nobody has complained (about the drinks). They (police) came to my house on October 4 to arrest me.”
