Otabor Opts For Nigeria, Turns Down England U-21

England born Nigerian winger Solomon Otabor turned down a chance to represent Englandā€™s national U21 football team,as his priority is to play
for the Super Eagles.
The 22 year old was called up to Aidy Boothroydā€™s squad for the games against Andorraā€™s U21 and Scotlandā€™s U21 declined which they won 7-0 andĀ 2-0 respectively.
Otabor explained that his love for his fatherland has kept him dreaming of a chance to dorn the green and white jersey.
ā€œNow Iā€™m 22 I feel like Iā€™ve got a lot experience with over 80 league appearances under my belt and if I get into the Super Eagles team I canĀ do well,ā€ Otabor told CSN exclusively.
ā€œIā€™ve matured physically and Iā€™m more powerful than when I was before. So a chance is all I need to prove myself.ā€
ā€œI hope for an opportunity to show the manager and his staff what I can do.
The 20-year-old Solomon-Otabor trained with the Nigeria U23s last summer and was in line to make his long awaited debut for the SamsonĀ Siasia-led side in November/December 2015 but the Africa U23 Cup of Nations fell outsideĀ Ā Fifaā€™sĀ international match calendar.
ā€œIt was rather unfortunate I could not make the team because the games didnā€™t fall on the FIFAā€™s international match calendar,ā€ he continued.
ā€œBut I hope I get the chance to prove my worth like Moses, Iwobi and Semi Ajayi are now doing.ā€
Otabor has scored once in seven appearances for Birmingham City who are currently ninth in the English Championship this season with 23 points
from 15 games.
