Emery Hails Iwobi’s Impact In Draw Vs Liverpool, Wants Eagles Star To Score More Goals
Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, hails the contribution of Alex Iwobi in his side’s 1-1 home draw against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday but has tasked the Nigeria international to add goals to his goals.
Iwobi came off the bench in the second half for Henrikh
Mkhitaryan and teed up Alexandre Lacazette for the Gunners equalising goal eight minutes from the end.
Englishman James Milner gave Liverpool the lead with a fierce shot a minute after the hour mark.
The draw help preserve Arsenal’s 14 games unbeaten run in all competitions after a difficult start to the campaign which saw them fell to back-to-back defeats against Manchester and Chelsea.
“We need every player. The characteristics each player has is very important and Iwobi can impact high in the match. At the beginning and when he starts on the bench,” Emery told reporters after the game.
“Today I think he is better on the left. His impact on parts of the match like our goal I think is important. His energy and quality is important.
“But he can improve, he can do better. He scored against Chelsea a lot of matches ago and I want him to be nearer the box to have chances to score more. I think he can.”
Arsenal host Sporting CP in midweek in the Europa League before looking to extend their unbeaten run in the Premier League next weekend against Wolves.
