Uzoho Concedes 5 Goals In Elche’s Loss; Azeez Benched
Elche’s Nigerian shot stopper Francis Uzoho conceded five goals against Cadiz who completed a stunning 5-1 victory in Sunday’s Spanish Segunda league clash.
The Nigerian international who had kept two clean sheets in the League prior to Sunday’s defeat was beaten five times in the second half of the encounter.
Interestingly, the 20 year old, Uzoho conceded four goals in 12 second half minutes.
Sory Kaba had shot the visitors, Elche into the lead in the ninth minute but goals from Roberto Correa, Dejan Lekic, Jose Mari (pen.), Salva Sanchez, and Manuel Vallejo handed Uzoho’s team their fourth defeat of the season.
Elche are now 14th with 14 points from 12 games while Cadiz who recorded a remarkable win are 13thin the table but with a superior goal difference to Uzoho’s team.
Uzoho and his Elche’s teammates will be looking to bounce back from the shambolic defeat when they hos Las Palmas in their next league game on Saturday.
Uzoho, currently on a season loan deal from Deportivo de La Coruna has been preferred in goal ahead of the veteran goalkeeper José Juan since he returned from international duty this month.
At the Nou Municipal de Cornella stadium, Ramon Azeez was an unused substitute for Lugo in their goalless draw away at Reus.
Azeez, has made five appearances in all competition this season for Lugo.
Lugo are 15th in the table with 13 points from 12 games.
While Uzoho has been called up for this month’s 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations qualifier against South Africa in Johanesburg, Azeez has been overlooked.
