Ganduje shuns Assembly panel probing bribe videos

The governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has shunned the state House of Assembly committee investigating the authenticity of video clips showing him receiving bribe in hard currency.
The state commissioner for Information, Mohammed Garba, who represented the governor, denied the allegations and dismissed the videos as fake.The commissioner said he was at the assembly Complex to represent the governor due to the options provided by the committee in its letter.
Mr Garba, in a statement presented before the committee, said the governor had denied collecting the bribe from the contractor as alleged by the publisher of the online Newspaper.
According to him, the governor stated that such had never happened to him and will never happen even in the future time.
The Governor in the letter called on the public to discard such allegations as it did not happen, calling on such publishers to avoid such publications that can tarnish the image of leaders.
“Such untruth publication was done to the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi the II and also to the former Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau,” Mr Ganduje said in the statement.Also commenting on the issue, the Commissioner of Justice and the State’s Attorney General, Ibrahim Mukhtar, commended the committee for handling the issue without fear or favour.
In his reaction, the Chairman of the Committee, Baffa Danagundi commended the representative of the governor for honouring the committee’s request.
Mr Danagundi said the committee will thoroughly watch the video on Tuesday in the presence of the representatives of both parties but not publicly.
