Nigerian Defender Emeka Obi Signs First Pro Contract With Wigan
The 17-year-old centre-back has impressed in The Latics’ Academy, having previously featured for Bury as a 15-year-old in the EFL Trophy.
Emeka Obi is a tall, physical central defender who is equally as adept with the ball at his feet as he is aerially.
“We have been tracking Emeka over the past couple of seasons and we are delighted to bring Emeka to Wigan Athletic on a professional contract,” Wigan Athletic’s Head of Academy, Gregor Rioch told the club’s official website.
“Emeka is an exciting talent who has been monitored by a number of Premier League clubs and has settled in really well at Wigan Athletic.
“As a Central Defender, he is one of the brightest prospects of his age in the Country.”
