The Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has promised to maximize the use of technology to tackle some of the challenges being faced in the state.

In a speech addressing tech community of startups, developers and innovators at a Digital Lagos event organized by Vibranium Valley on Sunday, Sanwo-Olu promised to collaborate with technology firms to solve social issues like entrepreneurship, health, transportation, creation of employment opportunity, education, mentoring and improvement of revenue generation of the government if voted for in next year’s election.

He affirmed that technology had interfered with people’s life, work and socialization, and that, social and governance problems could be solved with technological innovations even in a state like Lagos with a Gross Domestic Product of more than $ 136billion.

‘‘I am aware that technology is the oil of today. Some 10 years ago, the richest companies in the world were oil and energy giants, but the tide has changed. What we have today are technology companies dominating the global economic space. “With technology, transparency and accountability in government become easier and possible. Technological innovations are helping social enterprise address social problems. Tech is accelerating SME evolutions and the impact of this is positive on the economy, which gives everyone a share of the prosperity created by this system,” he added.
