POLICE IN SEARCH OF A REPORTER, WHO INSTIGATE TWO WOMEN AGAINST THEM
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi in a statement on Thursday said the reporter who instigated the two women assaulted by members of Ogun State Police Command attached to the Lafenwa Division in Abeokuta has been placed on red alerts for making the incidents a social media affair.
The incidents happened around 3:00am between two women and Ogun State policemen.
In a video posted on www.nairaland.com on Thursday, the two women was beaten by the policemen while trying to arrest two suspects who eventually escaped.
The video showed the bloodied face of one of the women, and the other woman in tears both lamenting how the policemen brutalised them and that they are widow and were on their way to the market when the incident occurred.
Oyeyemi described the incident as “a case of an accident and not an intentional assault,” and that the matter had been attended to by three deputy commissioners of police, adding that the police officers had apologised to the women regardless of the fact that the uniform of one of the policemen was torn by the women.
He added that “We are investigating the matter and we have uncovered the reporter who instigated the women to make the incident a social media affair. She works with a federal radio station in Abeokuta and we have reported the case to the general manager of the station, who asked us to bring a letter of complaint to him. We are going to charge her for false information. Giving false information is an offence.”
