Meghan Markle is a “self-obsessed social climber who’s trying to play the royals,” – TV host Piers Morgan claims
British TV host Piers Morgan has accused his former friend, Meghan Markle of being a social climber who uses people until she no longer needs them then discards them. He went on to claim she’s doing the same with the royal family.
Piers Morgan and the Duchess of Sussex were friends for a year and half. At the time, she was just Meghan Markle, the actress and model, not a member of the most powerful family on earth.
But Piers claims that as soon as she met Prince Harry, she “ghosted” him and never talked to him or replied his messages again. He accused the Duchess of Sussex of being a “self-obsessed social climber” who “discards” people once she’s “played” them.
The Good Morning Britain host, in a column for Daily Mail, accused Meghan of “using him for fame”, and is trying to “milk” her royal role for “all it’s worth”.
He wrote:
Anyone or anything that may not give her what she wants or gets in the way of her social climbing self-advancement gets discarded,” he raged in a column for the.
Meghan and Piers Morgan became friends when Piers started following her on Twitter and Meghan almost immediately replied, writing:
Well hello there – thanks for the follow. Big fan of yours!
They became very close over the next few months and chatted regularly, discussing at length everything from US gun violence to her charity work, their shared hatred of early morning filming calls and even her family. Piers said Meghan even started sending him future episodes of her TV show ‘Suits’ so they could debate juicy storylines yet to air.
As the friendship became stronger, she introduced him to her co-star Rick, who played Louis Litt in Suits, and they too struck up a friendship with Rick appearing on GMB in February 2016.
In early June 2016, Meghan flew over to the UK and arranged to meet Piers at his local pub after watching her friend Serena Williams play at Wimbledon. They spent an hour and a half chatting before she headed off to meet friends for dinner at the trendy 5 Hertford Street in London’s Mayfair.
It was at that dinner that she met Prince Harry. Piers said that from that point on, his messages to both Meghan and Rick went unanswered.
Piers was really angered by Meghan’s behaviour towards him and said it was “rude” of her.
He added:
She’s spent most of the past 20 years cosying up to people until they serve no more use to her, then airbrushing them out of her life without so much as ‘goodbye, Loser!’
Now that negative stories about Meghan are coming out of the palace, Piers says he believes that the stories suggest Meghan’s ambitious nature has not been tamed.
He continued:
Meghan Markle is a self-obsessed professional actress who has landed the role of her life and is determined to milk it for all she’s worth.
Piers Morgan, 53, also took aim at Meghan in a furious rant during the Good Morning Britain show on Tuesday. While discussing a string of stories recently published about the alleged rift between Meghan and her sister-in-law Kate Middleton, Morgan said:
I’ve had my own experience with her, which was not great to be honest.
I knew her for about a year and a half. I got on really well with her and then bang, she met someone more important and immediately ghosted.
I never heard from her ever again and the old slippery slope ladder had gone up and she social climbed her way out of my orbit.
So my experience wasn’t great, I’ve got to be honest with you. And everything I’ve seen since does slightly smack of an actress, a Hollywood actress, seizing her chance and acting her way to the top.
Piers Morgan went on to claim that he was responsible for putting Meghan “in the cab to Harry to start with”.
When journalist Radhika Sanghani who was a guest on Good Morning Britain tried to defend Meghan Markle, Piers said:
You can’t go after a prince as she did. And I know she did. I put her in the cab to Harry to start with.
You can’t set your sights on a prince to this country who is in line to the throne and expect to have a normal private life afterwards.
It’s part of the deal. To live in palaces at our expense you get to be in the papers. Good, bad and ugly.
Later, Radhika Sanghani and Piers continued their argument on Twitter.
Sanghani tweeted:
The media is trying to invent a catfight ‘feud’ with her and Kate, they call her ‘bossy’ & ‘difficult’ — words we don’t use for men — and so much of the narrative is trying to force her into the ‘angry black woman’ trope.
And Morgan responded:
What utter nonsense. And you have no idea if the stories are true or not! My experience of Ms Markle suggests they could definitely be true.
Later, in his column for Daily Mail, Piers warned Meghan that even though she might have succeeded in using other people, she wouldn’t succeed in trying it with the royal family.
He wrote:
But she’s now finding out the hard way that if you try to ‘play’ the Royals and the Royal Household like she played people like me, you’ll come up against a system you can never beat. For the first time in her life, Meghan Markle has discovered she can’t always get what she wants.
