CAFCL: Lobi Stars Edge Out Gor Mahia, Advance To Group Stage
Lobi Stars booked a spot in the group stage of the CAF Champions League following a 2-0 win against Kenyan champions, Gor Mahia at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Saturday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Makurdi club edged the contest on away goals rule after aggregate scores stood at 3-3.
Lobi Stars dominated the contest from the start but had to wait untill the 70th minute to score the game’s opening goal through Sikiru Alimi.
Alimi netted his second of the game three minutes before regulation time to send his team into the next round of the competition.
Solomon Ogbeide ‘ s men will now look to become the second Nigerian club after Enyimba to win the CAF Champions League.
