CAFCC: Ogunbote Confident Rangers Can Conquer Africa After USMBA Win
Rangers head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, has declared that the Flying Antelopes are ready to take on any opponent in the CAF Confederation Cup following Sunday’s 2-0 home win over Algerian club, Union Sportive Madinet Bel Abbes.
The Enugu club thoroughly outplayed their opponent who were making their debut appearance in the competition. And Ogunbote is confident they can go all the way and claim the title.
They edged the contest 2-0 on aggregate with Bright Silas scoring both goals in the first half.
“It was a great game against a very technically disciplined side. We give God all the glory and hope to keep working on the team till we get the perfect mix,” Ogunbote said as he appraised the Flying Antelopes’ performance in the game.
“We missed a lot of chances which would have made the result more embarrassing for our opponent and it gave them the zeal to come at us in the dying moments of the game. Like I said at the start of last season, I hope to take the team to an appreciable position.”
Ogunbote added: “Our sights are set for the finals of the competition. We fear no foe because to be a champion you have to beat champions.”
The Flying Antelopes will know their opponent in the play-off round when the draw is conducted on Friday in Cairo.
