Lobi Stars, Rangers To Know African Foes Friday
Nigerian clubs, Lobi Stars and Rangers will know their opponents in the next round of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup when the draw is conducted in Cairo on Friday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Lobi Stars booked their spot in the group stages of the CAF Champions League following a 3-3 aggregate scoreline win against Kenyan champions, Gor Mahia.
The Makurdi club lost the first leg 3-1 but won the reverse fixture 2-0 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Saturday to sail through on away goals rule.
It is the second time Solomon Ogbeide ‘ s led side will be playing in the group phase following their debut appearance in the competition in 2000.
They will be hoping to become the second Nigerian club to win the Champions League title after Enyimba won it back-to-back in 2003 and 2004.
Rangers made it to the play-off round of the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday following a 2-0 aggregate win against Union Sportive Madinet Bel Abbes also in Enugu on Sunday.
The Flying Antelopes held the Algerians to a goalless draw in the first leg.
No Nigerian club has won the Confederation Cup in the past.
