Castrol Oil Plans Big For 2019 As Castro Magnatec Dethrone Castrol GTX
Eternal Lubricant General manager, Nnamdi Obiagwu has once again reiterated the company stoic resolve to use sports as a tool to launch itself into the Nigerian market in the coming year after Castrol Magnatec emerged winner of the fourth edition of Eterna plc Novelty games, football category.
Fielding questions from journalists at Campus Centre, Lagos Island recently, Mr Obiagwu reveal that the Hunger Edition is part of Castrol Oil initiatives to bring it’s workforce together after a full filling year and most importantly encourage physical fitness amongst its employees and customers.
It would be recalled that two times defending champion, Castrol GTX, lost to Castrol Magnatec 5-4 on a penalty shootout.
The match which took place at the campus mini stadium amidst pomp and pageantry was described as entertaining, tough and controversial as a goal in the second half of the match which could have given Castrol GTX the day was ruled-off side by one of the assistant referee.
Team Castrol Magnatec had beaten team Castrol Powermax 5 goals to 4 in a penalty shootout to qualify for the final in group B, while team Castrol GTX beat team Castrol Edge 3 goals to nil to emerge winner of group A.
Team Powermax HD won the third-place match in another penalty shoot-out beaten team Castrol Edge 7-6.
Ibrahim Ali, won the highest goal scorer award while Christian Chukwu emerged as tournament best goalkeeper. The most valuable player award was won by Gbenga Olayiwola while Gbenga Oyefusi of Castrol Magnatec won the best manager of the tournament award.
Four teams participated in the football category namely Castrol GTX, Magnatec, Powermax and Edge. The games also featured other sports like the sprint, table tennis, sack race, snooker, cheers, and basketball.
