IF OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER SURVIVES FEBRUARY TOUGH TEST…
Joseph Omoniyi
No doubt, Manchester United caretaker manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has surpassed many expectations, writing his name alongside the club’s legends as a player and now as a coach with a record of eight wins in a roll after beating rival Arsenal 3-1 in the FA cup.
He has also verbally proven what it means to be the manager of arguably the biggest football club in England when he said during his press conference yesterday that Manchester United will fight for every trophy and not settle for top four finish. That alone may have won the hearts of the fans and who knows, he may have earned the trust of the management also.
By that statement, he is gradually showing willingness, passion and the body language to take Man U back to where they belong; fighting for titles. While the Tottenham Manager, Mauricio Pochettino was busy celebrating his top four ambition, Solsjkjaer is establishing himself as a big club manager.
However, the Norwegian faces a tough test in February with a ‘scary’ upcoming line of fixtures. In the UEFA Champions League round of 16, Man United will play French giant, PSG who may be without injured Neymar. But that does not in any way tone down the ‘firing squad’ threat their attacking combination poses against any defence anytime. Five days later they visit Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and on the 24th, it’s ‘a red battle’ against premier league title contender, Liverpool.

It’s a tough test indeed, one that may proof beyond reasonable doubt that his recent success is not a fluke and determine his next status in the club’s dressing room.
