SEE WHY ATIKU WILL NOT CONGRATULATE PRESIDENT BUHARI
The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the February 23 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday, said he would not congratulate the President Muhammadu Buhari because the election was not free and fair but marred by many irregularities.
Atiku, in a statement signed early on Wednesday morning, “said in my democratic struggles for the past three decades, I have never seen our democracy so debased as it was on Saturday, February 23, 2019.
“If I had lost in a free and fair election, I would have called the victor within seconds of my being aware of his victory to offer not just my congratulations, but my services to help unite Nigeria by being a bridge between the North and the South.
Recall that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, on Wednesday morning declared President Buhari of the All Progressives Congress as winner of the election, having scored 15,191, 847, while Atiku polled 11,262,978 votes.
