Rangers International team head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote has hinted that that the Nigerian Professional League, NPFL Group A leaders, MFM FC will soon be unseated as his sides are ready to take back their ‘rightful position’ at the summit.

Rangers indicated their readiness to fight for the top position on the table after they thrashed Remo Stars 5-2 at home, days after they were ousted from the CAF Confederations Cup.

The win took them to the third position on the log.

Ogunbote who in his often confident disposition asserted that his team are coming to claim their rightful place.

“The fortunate thing is that we are looking for the first three. After that, we have the Super Six where we will have the true champions,” began Ogunbote to npfl.ng.

“Be it as it may, I want to tell you that I still see MFM as the temporary occupants of that position so by the time we must have taken some of our outstanding games, then we will occupy our rightful position.”

To be fair to Ogunbote, his team’s display on Sunday combined with their third position on the table looked ominous especially when it comes into consideration that the Flying Antelopes are seven points behind group leaders MFM but have six games in hand due to their participation in the continental competition.

The former Sunshine Stars and Enyimba boss has put the disappointment of their group stage exit in Africa’s second grade competition behind him and have tuned his side’s focus on having a blistering domestic campaign.

“When you just come out of a continental tournament, unfortunately losing out having done below your benchmark or whatevever your target is, you have to set another target. You don’t accept that as a failure. You take it as an experience where you can do better if given another opportunity. The opportunity will not come unless you work for it,” adds Ogunbote.

Sunday’s game was peculiarly special to Ogunbote as three of his attackers were on target in the game while the other goals were scored by the team’s top scorer this season, midfielder Godwin Aguda. The trio of Ifeanyi George, Ibrahim Ajani and Michael Uchebo found the net in what was a departure to their most recent displays.
