Joseph Omoniyi
Nigeria’s Super Eagles began their campaign in the ongoing African Cup of Nations, AFCON 2019 against Burundi yesterday and it took subtitute, Odion Ighalo to rescue 3 points as the opposition put up a strong fight.
The 136th ranked team were resilient and determined to avoid defeat against the eagles as they held the Nigerian team to a barren draw in the first stanza of the game.
However, it took about two minutes for Ighalo to see the back of the net after he came off the bench, thanks to a brilliant assist from left back, Ola Aina.
Nigeria now lead group B after Guinea and Madagascar played a 2-2 draw.
