He was arrested on March 23, 2019 at the Kolapo Ishola Estate, Akobo, Ibadan, Oyo State for internet-related offences.

According to the EFCC, his action contravened Section 22 (2) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc) Act, 2015 and punishable under Section 22 (2)(b)(iv) of the same Act.

The 24-year-old man was said to have deceptively represented himself as Angelina Kimberly, an American nurse, via an e-mail angelinakimberly126@gmail.com.

The prosecuting counsel, Sanusi Galadanchi, prayed the court to convict Oyaremi in accordance with his earlier plea agreement.

Justice Ajoku sustained the prayer and pronounced the convict guilty and sentenced him to four months in prison.

The court also ordered Oyaremi to pay the sum of $3,600 to his victim through the Federal Government as restitution.

The judge also ordered the convict to forfeit his Apple laptop, Toshiba laptop, Samsung Galaxy Luna Pro, iPhone, Nokia phone, Apple watch and Smile 4G Internet modem to the Federal Government, being some of the items he bought with the proceeds of his fraudulent act.
