LATEST FIFA RANKING: NIGERIA MOVE UP 21 POSITIONS TO RANK 33RD AS SENEGAL REACH BEST EVER POSITION, 20TH

Bronze medalists, Nigeria have moved up 12 positions to rank 33rd in the latest FIFA ranking as finalists, Senegal make their best ever ranking, 2oth, despite climbing just 2 positions.

The ranking which was released by FIFA on Thursday was dominated by South Americans in the upper echelons, while the Africans made the most significant leaps.

2019 COPA America Champions,  Brazil are ranked 2nd, moving up 1 position, leapfrogging France who are 3rd, and went down 1 position trailing leaders Belgium by a narrow margin of 20 points.

Quarter-finalists Uruguay (5th, up 3), Colombia (8th, up 5), and Venezuela (26th, up 7) – who reach their best-ever Ranking position after their run to the last eight. Bronze-medallists Argentina (10th, up 1) complete a quartet of South American teams in the top ten.

Concacaf champions Mexico (12th, up 6) and fellow finalist USA (22nd, up 8) made big strides up the table with an honourable mention for surprise semi-finalist Haiti (83rd, up 18).

African champions Algeria (40th, up 28) are the biggest mover in the July edition by ranks and points (up 117). Surprise quarter-finalists Madagascar climbed up 12 slots to rank 96th and Benin 82nd, up 6.
