REVEALED: HOW MAN CITY TRIED TO LURE MESSI WITH TRIPPLE SALARY OFFER
Manchester City President Mubarak has revealed how the English Premier League club tried to lure Barcelona star man, Lionel Messi but the Argentine turned down the offer outrightly.
Speaking in an interview with sports journalists, Mubarak explained that when Guardiola headed Manchester City, they wanted to sign Messi and offered him a salary three times more than in Barcelona, but he refused.
Al Mubarak said, “We asked manager Pep Guardiola to talk to Messi, we offered him triple the salary he has at Barcelona, but he never accepted.”
Messi is the highest-paid football player in the world right now. The 32-year-old striker receives €50m per year at Barcelona.
