NEYMAR WAS WILLING TO PAY €20M OF HIS OWN TRANSFER FEE; MESSI WANTED HIM BACK SO BADLY, BUT WHY DID THE DEAL FAIL? (WHAT REALLY HAPPENED)

The European Transfer Window has been shot with some deadline day signings. But the drama that surrounded Brazilian Neymar’s signing or no signing will remain the major, historic and extraordinary event in this year’s.
Right from the very day the window was flung open, the PSG forward had been in the news until the very end. But what exactly happened? Why did Neymar who did not hide his willingness and readiness to exit the French club fail to move at the end of the Day?
According to Skysports’ chief report, Bryan Swanson who got an insider story, “There was a buyer that couldn’t but and a seller that really didn’t want to sell”.
Right from the start, The French giants had strategically and intentionally placed the price tag on Neymar very high and they were bent on not negotiating for a penny less throughout the window. After all, they paid a whooping, world-record €222m (£200m) for him in August 2017 to lure him from Barcelona.
Neymar was so interested in reuniting with Messi, Suarez and the likes in Barcelona that he was even ready to pay € 20M of his own transfer fee. Who does that?
However, the eventual playout revealed that there are still some clubs who can win the war against player-power.
Some of the other factors contributed to the breakdown in the negotiation with the Catalans. PSG were specific about the fee they were willing to take in cash and players. But buying Antonie Griezman made Barcelona broke that they were ‘begging’ for a loan deal with the option of buying, an offer PSG turned down outrightly.
Dembele, one of the players whom they had preferred included in the deal rejected a move to the french sides.
Oh! Madrid, of course, were reported to have shown interest in the Brazilian star, but they never brought a serious offer to the table.
At the end of the day, Neymar is staying, at least, till the next transfer window but, it remains to be seen whether he will be happy staying at the club for one more season or we are in for a season of drama which began when he the former Barcelona player started expressing his displeasure about the ligue1 referees not protecting him, jealousy in the dressing room.
Neymar will miss the first 3 matches of the 2019/2020 Champions League, for criticising UEFA on Instagram last season after his team was beaten by Manchester United.
