By Adeniyi Onaara
After unleashing his new track, “Touch Away,” Snoop Dogg promises a Death Row summer album is on the way.
During a video shared on Instagram on Tuesday, Snoop Dogg introduced his new album, A Death Row Summer. Snoop did reveal a new track for the album,
“Touch Away,” while keeping specifics on the project to a limited. Snoop Dogg and October London collaborated on the single.
In a social media footage recorded from the studio, Snoop remarked, “About to launch this Death Row summer album.” “A Summer on Death Row.” Last night, a new single was released. Take a look. We were in the metaverse, and now we’re back in the real world.”
He didn’t say when it will be released, but said it would be “soon.”
The album is Death Row’s second release in 2022, after Snoop’s acquisition of the imprint in February. Snoop, who released majority of his career through the label, including Doggystyle in 1993 and the Murder Was the Case album in 1995, has expressed his delight to be back where it all began.
“I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value,” Snoop said in a press release released at the time by Blackstone, adding that it “feels good to have ownership of the label I was a part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the most important labels in the world.”
