The terrible murders of parishioners at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State on Sunday has been condemned by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as an unthinkable atrocity.

The culprits would be apprehended and made to face the full force of the law, according to the vice president.

In a statement issued Monday in Abuja, Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, said the vice president visited Owo town and the Catholic Church to express his condolences to the clergy, community, and people of Ondo over the disaster.

The vice president also paid a visit to people who had been hurt at the town’s St. Louis Catholic Hospital.

He described the incident as a “horrible catastrophe” and “unfathomable evil.”

“The president has already authorized a full-scale investigation of this crime,” the statement said. Those who committed this crime will undoubtedly be apprehended, and they will bear the consequences of their actions.”

Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State greeted the vice president in Akure, while Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu of Owo subsequently joined him in Owo.

“This atrocious conduct must be condemned by everyone,” Osinbajo added.

But, more significantly, we must uncover and punish the perpetrators, as well as set an example.”
