FACT CHECK: HOODLUMS ATTACKED GOVERNOR’S CONVOY NOT TINUBU

Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the All Progressive Congress (APC), presidential candidate on Sunday, was reported to have been attacked by Hoodlums along Ebute-Ero, Adeniji, and Iga-Iduganran axis on Lagos Island.

However, the news was debunked on social media, while clarifying that the APC flagbearer was not attacked by hoodlums, rater, a press crew bus was vandalized instead.

The report also, stated that Tinubu had already gotten to his housecon Bourdillon, Ikoyi, at the time the incident occured.

The hoodlums attacked the convoy shortly after Tinubu had conferred with the Oba of Lagos.

The said Hoodlums ambushed the bus conveying the press crew reported to have been covering the Lagos State Governor’s Office between Ebute-Ero and Adeniji, Iga-Iduganran axis on Lagos Island, leaving two journalists critically injured and others with varying injuries.

Thugs threw heavy stones at vehicles carrying dignitaries, including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, and others, who had just left the palace of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwanu Akiolu, and were in the convoy of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The press crew bus was violently attacked by hoodlums, and it had to flee at high speed while journalists had to lie low on the bus to avoid being hurt. A few others were not so lucky, and they escaped with minor injuries.

However, Western Post correspondent, Ms. Adeola Ogunrinde and Omatseye Atsenuwa of Smooth 98’1fm were wounded, while Adedoja Salam of TVC went into shock due to heavy bombardment of stones and bricks thrown at the press crew bus, leaving the windscreen and nearly all the side screens broken and vandalized.

Ogunrinde received a facial injury, while Atsenuwa’s arm was directly struck by one of the huge stones thrown at the press crew bus.
