FUNKE AKINDELE SUSPENDS ACTING CAREER AS PDP NAMES HER LAGOS DEPUTY GOV. CANDIDATE
Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has suspended her acting career in order to serve as Olajide Adediran’s running mate for the People’s Democratic Party’s nomination for governor of Lagos State.
The actress declared on Tuesday that she would be running for deputy governor and that her acting career would have to be “necessarily put on hiatus.”
She claimed that she had to make this sacrifice in order to “save” the residents of Lagos State.
The actress made the following statement in a video that she posted on her Instagram page on Tuesday: “I am not oblivious to the cost of this assignment on my vibrant career, which I now must compelably put on pause.”
“It’s a huge personal sacrifice. My resolve is that no sacrifice is too huge for the actualisation of the urgent mission to rescue our people and our dear state.”
Akindele gave this explanation for her decision to take the position: “I saw it as an opportunity to help liberate and improve the wellbeing of our people, particularly the disadvantaged young women and children.”
In addition to taking on this enormous duty, I’ve made the commitment to work relentlessly and support Jandor in his unquenchable passion to see our beloved Lagos reach its full potential.
