JAMB: NATIONAL BUSINESS AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION BOARD (NABTEB) NO LONGER RECOGNIZED FOR DIRECT ENTRY
By Sumayyah Olapade
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Examinations Board announced on Thursday said that it will no longer consider the National Business and Technical Education Board’s A’level results for individuals seeking direct entry admission to tertiary institutions.
Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the registrar of JAMB, revealed this during the 2022 policy meeting, which is currently taking place at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.
“The Honorable minister of education has approved that the NABTEB A’level GCE will no longer be recognized as a qualification for DE from 2022. However, all those who have already obtained it prior to this date will be able to use it,” Oloyede said.
Speaking further at the policy meeting, Oloyede outlined some of the difficulties encountered by the board in conducting the 2022 UTME/DE examination.
Examination malpractices, impersonation and substitution of real candidates by paid examination takers, fraudulent CBT owners who sabotage examinations, parents encouraging examination malpractices, mass cheating by syndicates, and lengthy investigation and prosecution were among the challenges he listed.
