UPDATE: LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT RECLAIMS ENCROACHED PORTION OF IKORODU GRA SCHEME III
The encroached portion of Ikorodu GRA Scheme III, which is situated in the Odonla, Lucky Fibre axis of Ikorodu, has been reclaimed by the Lagos State Government.
On Thursday, Dr. Idris Salako, the commissioner for physical planning and urban development, said in Alausa that the State Government had to evict the unauthorized occupiers and give the concerned land parcel back to the original allottees, who have Certificates of Occupancy from the Lands Bureau.
He claimed that the action was taken to instill trust in government programs, compensate original allottees for their unjustly lost rights, and prevent the program from being tainted.
Salako claimed that the action was a response to the service of statutory notices, such as the stop-work order of February 4th, 2022, and was brought on by the illegal separation of the rightful owners from their properties, the unconscionable development by usurpers, and the deafening complaints of allottees.
He urged unwary buyers to beware of such land deals and advised land squatters disguising themselves as omo-onile to avoid further encroachment on government territory.
