“PETER OBI, LABOUR PARTY CAN’T PERFORM MIRACLES”, SAYS ATIKU
By Sumayyah Olapade
Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, has stated that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, cannot cause any upset during next year’s presidential election.
Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, claimed this in an exclusive interview with Arise TV, which aired on Friday morning.
He stated that Obi, who was his former vice presidential candidate alongside LP in the 2019 presidential election, cannot pull a miracle in the 2023 elections.
Despite the social media phenomenon and acceptance of Obi’s candidacy, Atiku noted that the LP does not have representatives in administration or the National Assembly.
“I really don’t expect the Labour Party to pull as many votes away from the PDP as many are predicting,” he added. We may have seen it in the recent Osun State election. What was the Labour Party’s performance?
Concerning Obi’s defection to the LP and whether Atiku misses him after he (Obi) left the PDP, the former vice president stated that, while he misses the former Anambra State governor, Obi did not consult him before to his defection.
“Unfortunately, Peter failed to consult with me. We were going on and on until I received the news of his defection. I believe he informed me three days after joining the Labour Party. So he didn’t even consult with me.”
