The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Chris Finebone, has dumped the party for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.

Finebone has been a strong critic of the state Governor, Nyesom Wike, on all fronts.

Finebone was photographed with Governor Wike in front of the latter’s private residence along Ara George in Port Harcourt, alongside the state PDP governorship candidate, Fubara Siminialaye, and a former APC chairman, Chief Davies Ikanya, who is also in the PDP.

He was said to have met privately with the governor and the PDP candidate on Thursday evening, where the deal was finalized.

Finebone confirmed his defection to the state’s ruling party to our correspondent on the phone early Friday morning.

“Yes, it is true,” he replied. That was yesterday,” he said, adding that the reason for his action would be revealed much later.

On Wednesday of this week, the former APC chieftain slammed the Wike administration for turning a blind eye as measles ravaged communities in the state’s Abua-Odual local government, resulting in deaths.

The latest defection by Finebone adds to the list of high-ranking APC members and supporters of the state’s immediate past Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, who have left the state’s main opposition party.

Dr. Dawari George, a former member of the House of Representatives and former Commissioner for Energy and Natural Resources who resigned from the APC last month, emerged as the Action Alliance’s state governorship candidate after a substituted primary held in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
