SCALING DOWN FOR EFFECTIVENESS, MINISTRY OF TRANSPORTATION DISBAND ITS TASKFORCE TEAM
By Sumayyah Olapade
The Lagos Ministry of Transportation has suspended the operations of its enforcement team known as M.O.T TASKFORCE indefinitely.
The decision was made after a thorough appraisal and review of the enforcement teams operating under the Ministry of Transportation, which he said needed to be scaled down, according to Hon. Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation.
Based on this new directive, the public is hereby urged to report the activities of any unauthorised enforcement team posing as M.O.T TASKFORCE to the Ministry of Transportation for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Giwa, who added that the ban has become necessary as part of measures to streamline transportation enforcement in Lagos State for greater effectiveness in line with global best practices, cautioned that the ban is not an excuse for drivers to disregard the State’s traffic laws, as the law will still take its course.
According to the Special Adviser, Traffic Management and Transportation is not only a critical pillar in Mr. Babajide Sanwo-THEMES Olu’s administration’s development agenda, but it is also the first. He alluded to the need for the State’s socioeconomic prosperity to be sustained, implying that the enforcement strategy must be revised for improved performance.
Giwa urged Lagosians to join the Lagos State Government in its efforts to improve the state’s traffic situation, assuring that much is being done behind the scenes to bring about the much-needed change in the transportation sector.
