
FLOOD KILLS 50 PERSONS, LEAVES MANY HOMELESS IN JIGAWA
Jigawa State Government has reported the death of about 50 people and displacement of several others as floods wreak havoc on portions of the state.
According to Sani Yusuf, the executive secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, while discussing with Newsmen in Dutse, he revealed that the flood destroyed thousands of houses in the state
Yusuf claimed that the predicament had compelled numerous Jigawa citizens to seek refuge in various locations, including governmental structures.
According to information obtained, the state administration housed numerous displaced people in 11 temporary camps.
Some of the victims were from the community of Balangu, where no fewer than 237 homes were demolished and flooded by water, killing four people.
There are a lot of displaced people living in 11 temporary camps. 237 homes have been damaged in Balangu alone, and their occupants are now staying in a makeshift camp, according to Yusuf.
After the six fatalities in Kafin Hausa, four more people passed away in that same community. As a result, we have now lost 50 or so people to the water as you travel the state. Seven members of the same family passed away on Saturday.
