Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has been ranked One of Nigeria’s top 10 universities.

Its classification as the top state university in the nation was further supported by its place on the list.

Lekan Fadeyi, the LAUTECH public relations officer, said in a statement on Thursday that the Times Higher Education, which looked at 1,799 universities in 104 countries, determined that LAUTECH was the 10th-best university in Nigeria.

He said, ā€œThe ranking table is based on 13 performance indicators, including teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.

ā€œTimes Higher Education is a British Magazine reporting specifically on news and issues related to higher education. Since its first issue came out in October 1971, this is the first time LAUTECH is appearing on THE and the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mojeed Liasu, describes it as translating to commendable progress for the institution.

In another but similar development, Just Events, an online publication releases what it called Nigeriaā€™s Best Universities 2023, listing a total of 12 institutions in which LAUTECH still ranked as only listed state-owned university.

In the meantime, LAUTECH and the University of Kentucky, Lexington, United States, have agreed to a memorandum of understanding regarding transnational programs.

The partnership is designed to help qualified Ph.D. applicants from LAUTECH’s seven academic engineering programs complete their academic and research programs in Kentucky. It aims to boost employee and student development and raise LAUTECH’s standing internationally.

Computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, and civil engineering are only a few of the engineering courses covered under the agreement.

Prof. Timothy Olabiyi, Director of the International Office at LAUTECH, indicated that the goal of the new partnership was to establish and acknowledge a formal connection between the two universities.

He listed other engineering courses to include Chemical and Agricultural Engineering.
