UPDATE: TEARS AS BAMISE IS FINALLY LAID TO REST

Oluwabamise Ayanwola, the 21-year-old Fashion designer that was alleged to have been raped and murdered by Andrew Nice Ominikoron, a BRT driver has been finally laid to rest at the Atan cemetery in Lagos on Friday.

Human rights advocates, relatives, friends, church members, and neighbors were among the mourners who lined up to pay their final respects and provide freewill messages before the body was buried at about 11.20 a.m.

On December 14, 2022, at Deeper Life Bible Church, Fatolu bus stop, Ipaja, Lagos, a Christian wake and service of songs was held at 5 p.m was held for the deceased followed by a candlelight procession.

Pastor Opadeji Olugbemiga of Deeper Life Bible Church encouraged the Ayanwola family in his condolence message to put their faith in God during this difficult time.

However, Comrade Kehinde Adeoye, the Lagos State Chairman of the Committee for the Defense of Human Rights (CDHR), called on the Lagos State Government to ensure justice while expressing condolences to the departed family.

Meanwhile, to he young Progressive Party candidate for the House of Representatives in the Mushin Federal Constituency, Folarin Opeyemi, who attended the event as well, urged Lagos citizens to be cautious about their security.

On November 30, 2022, families of the deceased fashion designer celebrated her 22nd posthumous birthday in Oko-Oba, Agege, Lagos.

Her death had sparked protests from a variety of angles, with a request that the state government bring charges against her killers.

Recall that on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at around 7 o’clock at Chevron, Lekki, Bamise boarded a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) headed for Oshodi and went missing.

Sadly, on Monday, March 7, 2022, her decomposing body was discovered by the side of the road on Ebute-Ero/Carter Bridge, Lagos Island.

Since then, the body has been lying in the mortuary before it was buried on Friday.

Hotjist earlier reported that, the deceased was on her way to see her older brother, whose wife was just about to put to bed when she died.

The bus driver, Andrew Nice Ominikoron, has been detained and is being prosecuted on five counts in Tafawa Balewa Square by the Lagos High Court (TBS).

Pa. Joseph and Mrs. Comfort Ayanwola, her aging parents, were left behind.
