On Tuesday, the Federal government delivered on a 28-year-old promise by giving three members of the 1994 Super Eagles and others the keys to a three-bedroom bungalow.

Mutiu Adepoju, Ike Shorunmu, and Finidi George are the three national football heroes. Team doctor Akin Amao and Adewale Adesokan, are also recipients of the national housing project.

Babatunde Fashola, the minister of works and housing, handed over the keys at the project site in Onidundu, Akinyele Local Government Area, Oyo State.

“The beneficiaries are among the first set of Nigerians including the 1994 Super Eagles who would be handed keys to their houses that was promised by the Federal government over 28 years ago,” said Fashola’s representative, Gbolahun Adesola the Federal Comptroller (Housing Sector).

“We have entered a season of completion and handover of keys to beneficiaries in 35 states and the FCT to Nigerians who have successfully subscribed through the open ministry’s website for the sales of these completed houses.”

Adepoju, Shorunmu, and Yetunde Adeniyi, who filled in for Amao, thanked God for granting them the opportunity to witness such a momentous occasion in a post-program interview with news reporters.

“I just have to be grateful to God and President Buhari for doing this in our lifetimes”, Adepoju remarked. ” After 28 years, I am happy and grateful to God for the honour.”

“I’ve never given up on my country because if I had, I would have moved to Europe”, Shoronmu remarked.
