NURSING & MIDWIFERY COUNCIL APPROVES WEARING OF HIJAB FOR MUSLIM FEMALE NURSES

The board of Nursing and Midwife Council of Nigeria has approved the use of shoulder length hijab for Muslim female nurses on duty in all hospitals and clinics in Nigeria.
ThisĀ was contained in a letter sent outĀ to all relevant bodies nationwide and signed on December 22nd by the association’s board chairperson, Dr. (Mrs.) Bola Abosede Ofi.
The board gave the go-ahead during their emergency meeting on Tuesday, December 20 at Wuse in Abuja.
The decision was taken in accordance with paragraph 2, No. III of the N&MCN/CMF/721/1/3 Circular of the 11th February 2002 on Nurses Uniform, which specifies that female nurses should wear either a Nurse cap or a shoulder-length hijab.
All hospital administrators are required to “abide by the Board’s decision to permit female nurses to wear shoulder-length hijabs on their uniforms while on duty,” according to the board.
