With President Muhammadu Buhari’s term coming to an end, another group of politicians is being positioned as the country’s saviors in 2023.

Some of the politicians have stated publicly that they want to run for president, while others have stated that they are not interested.

BUKOLA SARAKI:

Dr. Bukola Saraki, the former President of the Senate, is one of the high-profile politicians who have stated their intentions for 2023.

Saraki confirmed his intentions to run for president to PDP members in Benue State in November 2021.

ANYIM PIUS ANYIM:

Anyim Pius Anyim, the former Senate President, has made no secret of his aspirations.

To meet the expectations of the people of the Southeast geopolitical region, the former lawmaker who represented Ebonyi South in the fourth senate believes the presidency of 2023 should be assigned to the Southeast geopolitical region.

While launching his candidacy for president in October 2021, the PDP chieftain stated that he will run regardless of whether his party’s slot is zoned to the southeast or not.

YAHAYA BELLO:

Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State, stated that he would respond positively to Nigerians, particularly youths, women, and a “very objective elite,” who he claimed were begging him to run for president in 2023.

ASIWAJU BOLA TINUBU:

The national head of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has made it obvious that he wants to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

On Monday, January 10, 2022, Tinubu formally entered the race, telling journalists that he had notified Buhari of his intentions.

The 2023 presidential campaign has begun in earnest for the former Governor of Lagos State.

KINGSLEY MOGHALU:

Moghalu has announced his intention to run for president again in 2023, citing his concern for suffering Nigerians seeking an alternative to the current quo as his motivation.

The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) ran as a candidate for the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in the 2019 presidential election but was defeated by Buhari.

DELE MOMODU:

Dele Momodu, founder of Ovation Magazine and The Boss Newspaper, has offered to govern the country once more.

On Monday, January 10, 2022, the presidential candidate of the National Conscience Party (NCP) in the 2011 presidential election said that he will run for president again.

In October 2021, the legendary publisher rejoined the PDP, and he is now campaigning for the party’s presidential ticket in the next elections.

ORJI UZOR KALU:

Orji Uzor Kalu, the Senate Chief Whip, has declared himself the most well-prepared presidential candidate in Nigeria.

Despite the fact that his campaign posters have appeared in major cities, the former Governor of Abia State recently stated that he has not decided whether or not to run.

Kalu feels the southeast is ready for the presidency, but it appears that he will only run if the ruling APC gives the region its presidential ticket.

DOYIN OKUPE:

Former Presidential spokesperson Doyin Okupe has proclaimed his ambition to run for president in 2023, two months after campaigning for the southern presidency.

Okupe believes he has the necessary national political experience, intellectual capacity, and wisdom to end Nigeria’s social and economic degradation, insecurity, and widespread poverty, which has rendered life in the country practically worthless.

The 69-year-old politician declared his candidacy on the PDP platform.

DAVE UMAHI:

Governor Dave Umahi of Enugu State did the same thing less than 24 hours after Bola Tinubu met President Muhammadu Buhari and proclaimed his desire to run. He met with the president and announced his intention to run.

Umahi, who defected from the PDP to the ruling APC in November 2020, will have to fight for the party’s presidential nomination against other politicians vying for the position.

BALA MOHAMMED:

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State is said to be one of the governors being considered for the PDP presidential nomination.

The governor said in July 2021 that members of his party in his state had cleared him to run in 2023.

The governor has also mentioned his support from a number of organizations. This indicates that the governor is prepared for the Aso Rock race.
