2023 ELECTION: BVAS IS NOT FOR VOTING BUT FOR ACCREDITATION – OSUN REC
By Aishat Momoh. O.
The Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agboke has said that the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS), is not meant for voting but it’s rather used for Accreditation adding that the importance of the BVAS cannot be overemphasized.
The Commissioner, while reacting to news making the rounds that the BVAS may not be efficient due to over voting experienced during the Osun State elections, said that the BVAS will bring credibility to the upcoming 2023 general elections, stressing that it has helped the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to determine the people that came to the polling unit to commit electoral fraud.
He said, “BVAS is not for voting but for Accreditation. BVAS as a technology is not voting, remember Nigeria has not adopted the electronic voting system.
“BVAS cannot have any issues, it has assisted INEC, to determine the people that have come to the polling unit to commit electoral fraud, so, BVAS has no issues.”
He also urged the electorate to have confidence and believe in BVAS.
“I urge Nigeria’s electorate, dim your search light on those that are coming to vote, on our ADHOC staff. Nobody should collect ballot paper unless, he has been accredited or screened by the BVAS.
Let all of us go through the process together, let’s watch everybody. Watch your presiding officers, watch your AP 1,2,3. Let all of us do the right thing, we will get it right together as Nigerians.
