2023 POLLS: NIGERIANS REACT AS LP LEADERSHIP IN SOUTHWEST, KANO DEFECT TO APC
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has absorbed the whole apparatus of the Labor Party (LP) in the Southwest.
In Akure, the capital of Ondo State, the party hierarchy was brought to an end by Southwest LP chairman Omotoso Banji.
Other LP leaders who defected included Sola Alabi, Omowumi Olosola, and Ondo Secretary of LP.
Meanwhile, the Governorship candidate of Labour Party in Kano state, Bashir Ishaq Bashir has met with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC on Sunday evening in Abuja.
According to report, the governorship candidate, reportedly dumped his party for the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Though, Bashir has yet to officially announce his defection from LP nor stated whether he would abandon his gubernatorial ambition but a source close to him confirmed his defection and other LP leaders in Kano to the APC to journalists.
The source went on to link his choice to the party’s absence of significant northern stakeholders from its decision-making process and to a lack of clear guidance about northern Nigeria’s interests.
