Videos online show two banks being set on fire in the Sagamu district of Ogun State as protests over the currency shortage flare up once more.

In the videos posted on Monday, it could be seen that many locals were there while the Keystone and Union banks were set on fire, with several young people holding boards in protest.

Hotjist has previously reported that on Friday of last week, protests broke out in the Mowe-Ibafo neighborhood of Ogun State, with numerous locals obstructing the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in protest of the problems and hardships brought on by the persistent scarcity of the naira.

Based on a reliable source, “Good morning house ,As we know anything that has to do with shagam is on a high side . please avoid shagam they have started their own version of protest.”

The President, Muhammadu Buhari, had, however, extended the validity of the old N200 note for 60 days, till April 10, 2023, in a national broadcast on Thursday last week. He had also declared that the old N500 and N1,000 notes were no longer legal money in the nation.

Bola Oyeyemi, the state police public relations officer, could not be reached as of the time this story was filed since neither phone calls nor text messages were returned to his line.
