Aisha Buhari, the First Lady, has denied posting the alleged Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) press release that was uploaded on her Instagram profile on Tuesday, claiming that it was the work of hackers.

According to the statement uploaded on Aisha’s Facebook on Tuesday, the old N500 and N1000 notes should be lawful tender until May 1, 2023.

However, the first lady has issued a disclaimer noting that the post was not written by her.

The First Lady denied the post, saying, “DISCLAIMER! DISCLAIMER!! It has been brought to my knowledge that a piece of bogus news was uploaded earlier this morning on my social media handle, Instagram, which also ties directly to my Facebook page.  I have since directed that it should be deleted.

“This is without a doubt the criminal actions of the person(s) who were responsible for deleting quite a number of my posts from 2018 to late last year when I posted a video and picture of my hands with Henna design of ABAT insignia on the day I launched the APC Women Presidential Campaign Committee for Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Ilorin, Kwara State, my post on the event for the Traditional and Complementary Alternative Medicine (TCAM) conference and 17 other posts.

This guy is a hacker with criminal intent who intends to continue damaging my reputation via my social media sites.” But I assure you that this is the first and last time I will be denying phoney news on my account.

It is the responsibility of the security agencies to find out who am I sharing my social media handles with, despite being verified accounts, and take all necessary actions.”

The CBN had also refuted the alleged news statement and threatened to arrest its author.

“The attention of the Central Bank of Nigeria has been drawn to an FAKE PRESS RELEASE purported to have emanated from the Bank to the effect that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reissuance and release of old N500 and N1000 notes as legal tender in the country,” the CBN wrote in a statement.

The latter is a reference to the fact that the former is a reference to the fact that the latter is a reference to the fact that the former is a reference to the latter.

As a result, members of the public are encouraged to disregard this bogus news.“The Bank is working with the law enforcement agencies to investigate, apprehend and prosecute the purveyors of this fake news. Please be guided accordingly.”
